Hair spray, like gel, can be a polarizing beauty product. Some women swear by it, others loathe it. Even among those who would despair to be a day without it, there are cult classics like L’Oreal Elnett and more niche version of this styling wonder like Aveda’s Be Curly Curl Enhancing Spray.
If you’re a curly/wavy woman looking for a source of hair spray glory with a a more natural bent, this may be for you–may.
My Experience
My scalp’s personal ingredient preferences cut my experience with this product short. Thankfully, I learned enough to share something helpful with you, beloved readers.
T H E G O O D
- Excellent hold (stiff if overused)
- Large spray radius
- Extra-fine mist for easy application
This provided excellent hold with the “earthy, slightly damp, herbal medley” scent that Aveda products are known for. The scent is not off-putting; but, it’s definitely not the mainstream floral, fruity, candy scents that most commercial haircare products bear.
Its texture is unlike traditional hair sprays–it’s truly a watery mist–as opposed to the spray of lighter, sticker, commercial hair sprays.
T H E B A D
- High alcohol content
- Potentially drying over time
- “Wet” application
The level of alcohol in this hair spray inflamed my scalp, and I could not finish the bottle.
Please note: Alcohol-sensitive beloved readers, this product is likely not for you.
TL;DR
This hair spray offers an earthy, herbal scent and beautifully firm hold for wavy/curly ladies without alcohol scalp-sensitivities.
